Maliha Malik, LMFT, is a warm, proactive, and compassionate therapist who has worked in mental health for ten years. Clients appreciate her extensive skills base as well as her ability to easily connect with them.
With couples, Maliha works on many issues, including intimacy, communication, and reconnection, using a Gottman frame.
Maliha utilizes a range of therapeutic modalities based upon the unique needs of her clients. She has been trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person Centered Therapy, Attachment Based Therapy (specifically when dealing with younger children and providing psychoeducation for parents), Motivational Interviewing Therapy, Strengths Based Therapy, Structural Family Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.
Maliha’s goal for her clients is to support them in discovering their path to happiness and fulfillment by exploring their past and present experiences and helping them set goals for a future that they want to create for themselves. She does this through conversation, psychoeducation, and skill building, she provides the tools and you create the foundation to a healthier present and future.
Born in Pakistan, Maliha grew up in Connecticut and recently relocated to Maryland. Her hobbies include traveling, experiencing new cultures, spending time in good company, learning from new experiences and meeting new people. She says, “I enjoy spending time with my family watching my kids turn into amazing little human beings. I love to dance to loud (good) music and drive fast cars. :)”
